TOUR GUIDE

My name is Pablo, and I am a graduate of the Forestry and Wildlife Management program at the UTN in Costa Rica. After university, I had the experience of living and working in Canada, where I lived with people from all over the world and discovered that I love languages and customer service. Once this adventure was over and I was back in Costa Rica, I worked with the ICE (Costa Rican Institute of Electricity) as an environmental technician. Starting in 2017, I made the decision to become a tour guide and use the knowledge I acquired during this time to teach our visitors about our culture, nature, and history.

TOUR GUIDE

I am a Costa Rican Tour Guide with 22 years of experience leading groups of international travelers. I am also an Anthropologist, situation that has helped me to develop a special passion for the cultural exchange facilitated on every trip. My other passions include cycling, salsa dancing, photography and backpacking.

To create unique human experiences that are socially and environmentally sustainable, in the urban context of Costa Rica.
To help recover the urban space in terms of social, security, and health through a growing urban culture, supported by the active participation of citizens in the full enjoyment of the city and by a growing urban tourism that takes full advantage of the city.

In my role with the University for Peace, I’ve hosted many foreign students groups in Costa Rica. We try to schedule a Chepe Cletas tour for pretty much everyone that comes through! It’s a great way to get to see the capital, learning enough history and context to bring the sites to life and give them real meaning. Even better, the Cletas guides are FANTASTIC! They are up to date on current events and have meaningful cultural conversations with our students, giving them extra insight into what it means to be tico in San Jose, and answering all sorts of questions about Costa Rica past and present.

We’ve had a few visitors from out of town, their evening tours around the pubs/bars that are classic to the SJ Scene have made ripples through our organization. Very much appreciated.
