I'm a biologist and entrepreneur interested in urban life and urban dynamics, pedestrian life, good food, and good conversations. I'm a "Chepe" lover —the local nickname for San José. Since 2010, I've been part of ChepeCletas.

“In my role with the University for Peace, I’ve hosted many foreign students groups in Costa Rica. We try to schedule a Chepe Cletas tour for pretty much everyone that comes through! It’s a great way to get to see the capital, learning enough history and context to bring the sites to life and give them real meaning. Even better, the Cletas guides are FANTASTIC! They are up to date on current events and have meaningful cultural conversations with our students, giving them extra insight into what it means to be tico in San Jose, and answering all sorts of questions about Costa Rica past and present.”

Unique way to tour beautiful San Jose
Review of: ChepeCletas San Jose Bike Ride
We had a great time on our tour with Alexander. Educational, fun, great exercise, and an exciting way to see San Jose. From my initial phone call, Roberto was very accommodating for us on short notice, and arranged a tour for our time schedule. We really enjoyed the stop at cafe machado, too, for a local, expert coffee experience. Highly recommended for an active tour.

We had a great private tour with Pablo today. When we initially got to San Jose and saw the traffic, we were apprehensive about riding bikes through the streets. But we were pleasantly surprised to see how many bike lanes and paths the city has. Our guide Pablo was a young friendly guy who spoke perfect English. We learned some historical and architectural facts, rode through parks and flower-tree lined streets, and got a tour of the beautiful University campus. My husband and I are active thirty-somethings who don’t bike very often, and the difficulty level was perfect for us. This tour is a great way to see a lot more of the city than you would by foot!
